FRIDAY'S PRESS TALK

Posted on: Fri 11 Dec 2009

Bradley Orr says the next month will almost certainly define Bristol City's season. The Robins have taken four points from two games in December and will play a further four times before the end of the year. A similar return from matches against Doncaster Rovers, Reading, Queens Park Rangers and Watford could feasibly re-establish City in the Championship play-off positions and set them up for an exciting second half to the season. In buoyant mood following Tuesday's 3-1 triumph over Leicester at the Walkers Stadium, City will look to build momentum when they meet Doncaster at the Keepmoat Stadium tomorrow. Experienced defender Orr, back in the side after recovering from injury, believes now is the time for Bristol City to make their move up the table. "We have a really tough December and playing lots of games during the Christmas period is always hard," contends Orr.

Bristol City look set to be boosted by the return of captain Louis Carey for Saturday afternoon's trip to face Doncaster in the Championship. The defender has missed the Robins' last two league games with a groin injury but should return in place of Liam Fontaine. Fellow defender Bradley Orr came through 90 minutes unscathed in the 3-1 victory over Leicester in midweek following injury and should retain his place in the side.

Bristol City assistant manager Keith Millen believes his side must not get frustrated by Doncaster's passing ability on Saturday. The Robins moved to within a point of the play-off places in the Championship following their 3-1 win against Leicester on Tuesday night. And with boss Gary Johnson currently refusing to speak to the media, spokesman Millen believes keeping Rovers under pressure for the full 90 minutes is the only way to compete with them. He said: "Doncaster are a very good footballing team. We have to be solid again."

Doncaster Rovers manager Sean O'Driscoll could be without midfielder Martin Woods for the home clash with Bristol City on Saturday. Woods has been struggling with a groin problem and was replaced by Simon Gillett at half-time during the midweek win over Sheffield Wednesday.

Swansea's on-loan Bristol City striker Lee Trundle hopes he has done enough to earn himself a permanent move to the Liberty Stadium.

Kevin Amankwaah is determined to shrug off the inevitable Bristol Rovers boos tomorrow afternoon, as he bids to guide Town to a fifth straight League One victory. Having started his career and spent five years on the books at Bristol City, the full-back knows he is more than likely going to be subjected to some stick from the terraces at the Memorial Stadium. But Amankwaah is hoping Swindon can silence the Rovers crowd with another impressive performance. "I always look forward to playing against Rovers and any local derby is exciting. I'm looking forward to it a lot," said the 27-year-old.
