Gary Johnson is calling on Bristol City's senior players to stand up and be counted when Sheffield United visit Ashton Gate on Saturday. City's manager felt some of the team's more influential figures went missing during last weekend's 4-1 defeat at West Bromwich Albion. Back-to-back home games against the Blades and Ipswich Town present an opportunity for the Robins to put their play-off quest back on track and Johnson is backing his side to bounce back in positive fashion. But he insists a recovery will only be possible if City's star players step up to the plate and take responsibility. "Some of them didn't do that at West Brom," said Johnson. "They were too timid and didn't do enough to affect the game."

Bristol City boss Gary Johnson has confirmed that he is on the hunt for a new left winger after failing to replace Michael McIndoe. McIndoe was sold to Coventry in the summer after falling out with Johnson, leaving a lack of cover on the left-hand side after the Robins boss failed to replace McIndoe. However, after being questioned about this problem at the club's stakeholders meeting Johnson said he was aiming to bring in a new wide man. "At the time it was right for Michael McIndoe to move on and the search was on to find another left-sided player who could affect the game. Michael did that at the start but not near the end of his time here," said Johnson.
