THURSDAY'S PRESS TALK
Gary Johnson was relieved to welcome three new faces to Bristol City's squad in time for the start of pre-season training yesterday. Scotland striker David Clarkson, former Colchester United goalkeeper Dean Gerken and young left-back Andre Blackman have all put pen to paper at Ashton Gate. Bristol City boss Johnson is hopeful of adding at least two more faces in the next few days and he said: "It is a relief because it is important to have the lads you want in as quickly as you can at the start of pre-season. You want them to be here for the first day and I have been really pleased with the three signings we have made. They are good personalities and they all have got that sort of ambition I like to see. It is great to have new faces and it is something you need to do at times to liven things up."

Bristol City wideman Michael McIndoe was last night in talks with Sheffield United over a move to Bramall Lane. City boss Gary Johnson confirmed that McIndoe was absent from the start of pre-season training yesterday morning after an undisclosed offer for the Scottish wideman had been accepted. Former Yeovil star McIndoe was reunited with Johnson in the summer of 2006 after arriving at Ashton Gate from Wolves - but the Bristol City boss now expects a deal to be completed within days. Johnson said: "Sheffield United are talking to Michael at the moment and that will probably happen within the next couple of days. I don't want to say too much about it at this time, because it has not happened yet and Michael could still come back here. Once it is done we will be able to talk about the reasons in greater detail."

Sheffield United should sign Bristol City winger Michael McIndoe this week. That's according to City manager Gary Johnson, who said: Macca is talking to Sheffield United, he hasn't been training with us. "I expect that deal will go through in the next couple of days, but that's all I can say at this stage." It seems the clubs have agreed an undisclosed fee for the 29-year-old former Doncaster Rovers and Barnsley player.

Bristol City manager Gary Johnson expects midfielder Michael McIndoe to complete his move to Sheffield United in the next few days. The 29-year-old has been in discussions with the Blades while the rest of the Robins squad returned for pre-season training earlier this week. The former Doncaster ace made the most league appearances for City last term but a move to Bramall Lane now seems a certainty.
