MONDAY'S PRESS TALK
Christian Ribeiro will begin pre-season training with Bristol City on Wednesday. The young defender suffered cruciate knee ligament damage 11 months ago on his first-team debut in a League Cup tie with Peterborough. But he has trained throughout the summer and will start on level terms with his team-mates this week. And manager Gary Johnson is backing the 19-year-old to return as the same player he was before his horrific setback. "Certainly if anyone deserves it he does," he said. "The work he has put in has been nothing short of unbelievable. Everybody wants him to do well."

New Motherwell boss Jim Gannon is set to demand a chunk of the near-£1million earned from the sales of David Clarkson and Paul Quinn to stave off a personnel crisis at Fir Park. The ex-Stockport manager watched his new charges lose 3-1 to Welsh champions Rhyl in a low- key friendly at Dalziel Park on Saturday, and was given a clear idea of the rebuilding job required at the club just days ahead of their Europa League qualifying clash with Llanelli at New Broomfield. With Clarkson in talks over a £600,000 switch to Bristol City and Quinn poised to move to Cardiff in a £300,000 deal, Gannon is likely to have only 11 established first-team players available for his first match in charge.

Barnsley manager Simon Davey has ruled out bringing winger Michael McIndoe back to Oakwell. McIndoe is believed to be surplus to requirements at Bristol City and had been linked with a return to South Yorkshire. The 29-year-old's first spell at the club ended when Davey was named caretaker boss and while the Tykes boss admits he is a good player he added the McIndoe is not on their wanted list.
