SUNDAY'S PRESS TALK
Bruises galore, no goals - and only frustration for rival strikers Jay Bothroyd and Nick Maynard, who both need them right now. The goals that is, not the bruises. Indeed a fierce, pulsating Wales-West Country derby ended with honours even and both sides still unbeaten. It was probably a fair result on a day when Ninian Park was no place for the faint-hearted. There were certainly no complaints from either camp. "Maybe we just edged it on chances but I think the commitment of both sides made it a really thrilling derby," said Cardiff manager Dave Jones. And Bristol City boss Gary Johnson declared: "The work rate of both sides was fantastic. Neither side deserved to lose a game like that."

Jay Bothroyd was left to regret his wasteful finishing as Cardiff were held at home. The striker is still awaiting his first goal for the Bluebirds since his £300,000 summer move from Wolves. He had enough chances to sink Gary Johnson's Robins in this entertaining Ninian Park clash but lacked composure in front of goal. Boss Dave Jones said: "I thought this was a great game to watch, even though it finished 0-0. Jay had three or four chances to score his first goal for us but maybe he was trying too hard. He's working so hard and I'm sure the goals will come for him."
News of the World
Adrian Basso's heroics frustrated Cardiff as Bristol City maintained their unbeaten record in a Severnside derby stalemate. The Robins goalkeeper kept the home side at bay with a series of fine saves, denying Jay Bothroyd, Peter Whittingham and Paul Parry. Bristol City had chances but the closest they went to breaking the deadlock was a Nicky Maynard shot which hit the crossbar.

Dave Jones applauded Cardiff City fans for their 'outstanding' support during the goalless draw against Bristol City at Ninian Park. "The supporters made this game, they made the atmosphere top notch," said Jones. "We played some good football and nearly 20,000 spectators got behind us. They were outstanding."
South Wales Echo
Bristol City's Nicky Maynard went closest to breaking the deadlock in an entertaining 0-0 Championship draw with Cardiff at Ninian Park. Last season's beaten play-off finalists were completely outplayed by their hosts in the opening 45 minutes and had goalkeeper Adriano Basso to thank for keeping the scores level. But after Maynard hit the bar just before half-time the Robins were on top after the break and could have grabbed all three points themselves.
