SUNDAY'S PRESS TALK
Gary Johnson could find very few positives after Bristol City were held to a 1-1 draw in their opening pre-season friendly at Forest Green. The beaten play-off finalists needed a Steve Brooker goal to earn a draw at the New Lawn after Darren Jones had put the Blue Square Premier side ahead. Johnson said: "Forget about the game. It's pre-season and there weren't too many positives other than the kit, grass and supporters."
Teamtalk
Forest Green could not repeat last year's 4-1 trouncing of Championship side Bristol City as both sides cancelled each other out in a typically placid pre-season friendly. Former City defender Darren Jones was given the Forest Green armband following Michael Brough's departure and he fired his side into the lead with a 32nd minute free-kick, but the visitors hit back seven minutes into the second half through striker Steve Brooker.
Gazette
Bristol City boss Gary Johnson is taking a close look at Manchester United winger Michael Barnes. Barnes is available after being released by United and is training with City.
