SATURDAY'S PRESS TALK
Posted on: Sat 07 Jun 2008
Ex-Bristol City midfielder Alex Russell is set to make a decision on his future in the next few weeks - with five clubs battling to sign him. Russell spent time on loan with Cheltenham Town last season and talks to make that move permanent have already taken place with Robins boss Keith Downing. Cheltenham are understood to be the highest-placed League club interested in signing Russell and could be helped by the fact the midfielder is happy living in Bristol. Russell, 35, believes he can extend his playing career by another three years, and the length of contract offered could be the determining factor in his decision. He said: "I have had talks with a few clubs in League One and League Two and I am just weighing up my options. I feel I have another three years left in me and at my age the length of contract can influence your decision. Location could also come into it because I really enjoy living in Bristol, so we will just have to wait and see."
