Well done to the team for a battling performance last night.

I can't remember a time when there has been so much illness in the camp, and it's a testimony to the depth and character of the squad that they can go to a tough place like Swansea and come away with a well-earned point.

Well done also to the 239 City fans who braved the travel restrictions to support their team under equally difficult circumstances.

It's been well documented that everyone at Bristol City would like to see an end to these 'bubble' trips, where supporters are bussed in and out of South Wales for the Swansea and Cardiff games.

It's clear that there was a bit of a boycott last night from many City fans who are now simply refusing to travel under the current restrictions. We took 2,000 to Coventry, 2,800 are going to Newcastle, but only 200 made the short trip to Swansea.

This time last year, Steve Lansdown said: "I understand why these restrictions were put in place and I appreciate that safety is of paramount importance. But these arrangements cause a lot of inconvenience to genuine fans of all three clubs who travel from far and wide to see their team play. We don't want to put people's safety in jeopardy, but we have to be realistic and listen to our supporters.

"People are staying away from these games and that cannot be right.

"I'd like to think that we've come to the point where we can relax these restrictions. It's sad that, in this day and age, people can't travel to football matches under their own steam."

Last month, Group Managing Director Doug Harman also spoke out against South Wales Police's decision not to cancel the bubble trips: "I'm very disappointed with this decision, particularly bearing in mind our last fixture at Ashton Gate (against Swansea) passed without problems and our initial discussions with the police and Swansea were very positive.

"However, together with Avon & Somerset Police we only have jurisdiction over the Ashton Gate fixture, whilst Swansea City and South Wales Police have the final say over the Liberty Stadium match.

"Bristol City and Avon & Somerset have made strong representations to Swansea City and South Wales Police, but they have been firm and taken the decision not to relax travel for our supporters in September. It's unfortunate but out of our control and there is nothing we can now do to change their position."

Yesterday, the Supporters Trust has also put its weight behind the campaign.

A statement issued by the Trust read: "South Wales Police appear to be the only force in the country still deploying such tactics, given that Avon and Somerset Police now look likely to give the go-ahead for both Cardiff and Swansea fans to travel to Ashton Gate under their own steam for the return games later this season. What possible justification can there be for South Wales Police persisting with bubble match restrictions?"

I'd also like to speak up for the vast majority of decent, law-abiding Bristol City fans who are deprived of the chance to make their own travel arrangements to go and watch their team.

The lads also suffer as they are deprived of the massive vocal support which clearly gives them a lift at other grounds around the country (no disrespect to the 239 who were brilliant last night).

The club will continue to campaign to get these restrictions lifted. Hopefully it won't be long before all supporters get the chance to go to Swansea and Cardiff without restriction.

However, with freedom, comes responsibility. The tiny minority of people who will look on the lifting of restrictions as an opportunity to cause trouble should be reminded that the club will not hesitate to support punitive action against anyone found guilty of misbehaviour.

One such supporter who was arrested during the game against Middlesborough was recently given a three-year banning order. We should all remember that this sort of behaviour could well lead to the re-introduction of travel restrictions in the future.

I am sure all decent City fans will join me in condemning it out of hand.
