It's all systems go for our new half-time competition, Strike The Bar, in association with JTS.

In fact, we're looking to make it even easier for supporters to get on the pitch at half-time and compete for the chance to share in a bumper prize fund of £100,000.

There will also be other prizes, including match tickets, a £500 tailored suit and an Xbox 360. More details next week, but if you want to enter the draw to be one of those taking part, then visit strikethebar.com, click on the Bristol City logo and follow the instructions.

As the summer winds its way towards another damp and disappointing conclusion, the Bristol City staff cricket team made the most of a rare sunny evening with a game against new stadium project managers, Capita Symonds.

I'm a keen club cricketer, and as captain for the night, it was my opportunity to check out the credentials of some of my work colleagues who certainly talk a good game of cricket. Some of them could even play too. Following the early loss of Chief Scout Dave Lee, who hit the ball a long way in practice, but struggled to make contact out in the middle, the game took off with a dynamic partnership between Programme Editor Jimmy Healey and New Stadium Executive Jon Lansdown, who both retired on 25 not out.

But from the heady heights of 80 for 2 of the first 11 overs, our innings lost its way and with Capita saving their best bowlers to the end, we finished on a disappointing 108 off our 20 overs.

In reply we soon had them two wickets down for no runs, but with some of our occasional bowlers in place Capita accelerated through the middle part of the innings, and despite valiant bowling efforts from Guy Price and Charlie Lincoln from our new stadium team, and three key wickets for the skipper, they passed our meagre total with an over and a half to spare.

All in all, a very enjoyable evening, even though we lost. We've decided to play a few more T20 games next season, so if you're involved in a works team, then get in touch.

There's still time to register a team for the big charity quiz in aid of Scrumpy's Appeal for Bristol children. It should be a great night out. There will be a team of City players there on the night, and we've also invited other sporting celebrities from Bristol. Remember you can also make a donation, even if it's only a couple of quid, by visiting the Fundraising Page. If all our supporters gave £2, we'd reach our total in no time.
