Matchstick Ashton Gate
Ron Cormack and daughter Kelly with the model Gate

Two diehard City supporters lit up the club recently by bringing in their matchstick model of the club's Ashton Gate Stadium home.

Season ticket holder Ron Cormack and daughter Kelly meticulously built and painted the model of City's home during the 1997/98 season.

More than a metre in length, the striking model is made up of just under 20,000 matchsticks and is remarkable to look at.

Ron, who hails from Ashton, told bcfc.co.uk: "It took every spare moment we had. It was a joy to build."

The two will now have to decide whether to rebuild the East End of their model stadium in line with the summer redevelopment plans.
