Ashton Gate is to play host to the first 'Subbuteo World Masters' ever held in the UK on Saturday, September 18th.
The tournament will see eight of the world's top players compete in a knock-out competition, battling it out to win a £10,000 cash prize.
The charity event has been organised by ex-Subbuteo player and Bristol native, Kaspar Bennett, who wants to bring this sport back to the country that invented it.
Spectators will be encouraged to get involved by having a fun bet (Winning Post Bookmakers, Ashton Gate will be betting live on the event - a first for subbuteo) or support their local player (former World Cup semi finalist Darren Clarke of Bedminster).
There will also be players from Spain, Italy, Belgium, Wales, Portugal, Holland and Austria. Four former World Champions will be playing, as well as the current World number one and two players.
All ticket sales shall be donated to Cancer Research UK. Tickets are priced at £3 (£1 for under 12s). The event hopes to sell out its 1,200 tickets. For further details contact: Fred Wired - 07740 101494 or Kaspar Bennett - 07855 320660
The Subbuteo World Masters will be held on September 18, 2010 after City's home game with Coventry City in the Dolman Exhibition Hall, between 5pm-9pm.
