Christian Ribeiro has withdrawn from the Wales Under-21 squad for games against Hungary and Italy.
The defender is still getting up to full speed again after a troublesome back problem forced him to miss the entirety of City's pre-season campaign.
Recently he returned to action with the reserves, playing a match and a half against Aldershot and Cheltenham Town respectively.
However, it is still too soon for the youngster to play a competitive fixture, and subsequently he has opted to continue his return to full fitness back at Ashton Gate this week.
The one-cap full international still harbours hopes of facing England - and the likes of Wayne Rooney - in Euro Championship qualifiers in the next 18 months.
"There are some big games coming up for Wales, but I have to play well for Bristol City first and then, if I do well, hopefully I will get picked for them," he said.
Stephen Henderson is the only City representative left on international duty. The goalkeeper is likely to be involved for Republic of Ireland Under-21s in their away games against Turkey (Friday 3rd) and Switzerland (Tuesday 7th).
