SCHOOLBOY DEFENDING COST US - KEITH

Posted on: Sun 29 Aug 2010

Keith Millen described his side's defending as "schoolboy stuff" in the 2-0 defeat at Ipswich Town.

The manager goes into the international break without seeing his team win during 2010/11, and is looking for big improvements for the away trip to Scunthorpe United in two weeks' time.

Speaking on Player, Keith said: "Schoolboy mistakes cost us the game, that sums it up.

"In the first half we did okay and were disciplined. There wasn't much in it and I was quite happy at the break ready to give it a go after half-time.

"However, we never really got going and it was basic schoolboy stuff. We've gifted them the game and they didn't need to play well to win.

"When we were two goals down I would have liked to see a bit more fight and belief that we could get back in it.

"We're disappointed and we'll have a meeting on Tuesday night to plan the way forward."

Asked if he might make a move in the transfer market before Tuesday's deadline, Keith said: "We might do. We've got two or three things that are ongoing.

"Tuesday isn't really a strict deadline because you still have loans available soon after but we might need to do something."

Jamie McAllister limped off before the end of the game and will be assessed during the international break.
