City hope to complete a deal for Ipswich Town forward Jon Stead early next week.

Manager Keith Millen confirmed after the 3-3 draw with Barnsley that Stead could become a City player on Monday.

The 27-year-old was involved for Ipswich's 2-1 win over Crystal Palace today, but is now poised for a move to Ashton Gate.

Keith told bcfc.co.uk: "He's someone we've been looking to sign for a while and it looks like we are close now. We hope to conclude a deal early next week."

Ipswich boss Roy Keane confirmed in his post-match interview that Stead could be a City player as early as Monday.
