David James has declared he is happy at City despite the dramatic events of last week, which saw the manager that signed him retire from football management.
The England goalkeeper admits he was surprised to hear the news of Steve Coppell's dramatic resignation from the Ashton Gate post, but admitted: "That's football."
Keith Millen was quickly appointed on a three-year contract to take over the reins from Coppell.
And David continued in an exclusive Player interview: "I spoke with Keith Millen on Thursday to find out where he was going to go and it was all very positive, very good.
"It was interesting (on Thursday). I was surprised of course. The conversation I had with the manager (Coppell) a week ago was very positive and encouraging. I was surprised but that's football.
"The manager when I joined had a good pedigree as a Championship manager and he obviously took Reading into the Premier League.
"The situation with Keith (Millen) is a new one with the inexperience he's got, but going by his results at the end of last season and the way we were organised at Doncaster, it should be good."
Speculation has been prominent since Coppell's exit that the former Liverpool and Aston Villa keeper might also take an escape route.
When asked if his position at Ashton Gate was affected by the manager's departure, he said: "I should be alright, yes, but I've got a new manager to impress now!
"I'm enjoying it at Bristol City. It would have been nice to get the win (at Doncaster)."
He later told the BBC: "Steve Coppell was a factor for me joining, as I said in the press conference, but he wasn't the only reason."
City were denied their first three-point haul of the season when Billy Sharp scored from the penalty spot to earn Doncaster a 1-1 draw at the Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday.
David reflected: "There's a disappointment in the dressing room because we had the chance to take three points but at the same time we should be happy in the way that we played.
"We knew Doncaster would pass the ball well and given last Saturday's game (3-0 loss to Millwall), with opportunities there was a fear this game could have turned into a similar event.
"I spoke with Keith Millen on Thursday to find out where he was going to go and it was all very positive, very good."

"By and large we controlled the situation and defended well, but with being a goal up with dropped off a bit and allowed them too much space and inevitably that leads to opportunities. They've taken the opportunity from the penalty.
"Having said that Doncaster were the home team, they have a great record at the Keepmoat Stadium. We lost twice to them last season and if you are looking for comparisons then we're up, although there's still a frustration that we didn't get three points.
"It was still a decent performance overall."
Left out of the England squad for the international friendly with Hungary last Wednesday, David's place between the sticks was taken by young Manchester City keeper Joe Hart.
Asked how he felt his replacement fared in the week, David grinned: "I heard Joe did well and I expected that because he's a class act. Every time I turned the TV over something else was happening on the pitch.
"The wife had me watching Come Dine With Me on the other side. That's married life for you."
