Nicky Maynard has been ruled out of action for between three and four months following surgery on his injured knee.

The striker went under the knife yesterday and surgeons have confirmed the recovery time to City's medical team.

New City manager Keith Millen told bcfc.co.uk: "It's a massive blow for us losing someone who scored 21 goals last season.

"Everyone is gutted for Nicky and now he needs time to recover. In the meantime we need goals and we're looking actively in the market to try and add to the players we already have on board."

Cole Skuse is expected to be available to face Doncaster Rovers this weekend after being substituted at Southend on Tuesday with a hamstring strain.

Louis Carey and Christian Ribeiro are both edging back towards full fitness but are unlikely to be in contention this weekend.
