Bristol City Academy is sending its under 11 squad to compete in a Dutch 1st division tournament near Arnhem, Holland this weekend.
The 11-a-side event will be a tough challenge for our boys as they will play 11-a-side on full size pitches for the very first time.
Awaiting them in the group stages is Ajax, Sparta Rotterdam and De Graafschap, with the likes of Feyenoord and Anderlecht competing in the other group.
They will be certainly motivated by the recent success of the under 12s in Sweden and Denmark, but win or lose, the experience of playing against high profile teams on such a big stage will undoubtedly further their development and prepare them for the Academy season head which begins in September.
Coach Tim Kirk told bcfc.co.uk: "The boys are really looking forward to going away this weekend, but they are under no illusions as to how tough it is going to be.
"New playing format, the highest standard of opposition, and being away from home for the first time for some of them, means that it is going to be a very interesting weekend.
"Indeed, I expect to learn much about them, and i'm sure they will learn a few things about themselves too."
