LET'S DO BRISTOL PROUD - COLIN

Posted on: Sun 08 Aug 2010

Group chief executive Colin Sexstone has called on City fans to turn out in numbers for Tuesday night's England under-21 international at Ashton Gate.

After the club's biggest opening-day crowd for 31 years watched Saturday's Championship game v Millwall, City are hoping for another large turnout for FA friendly match against Uzbekistan .

Tickets are priced just £10 adults and £5 concessions and are available now online; alternatively they can be purchased by phone on 0871 222 66 66 (option 1) or in person at Ashton Gate from 9am Monday.

The game will feature England's stars of the future, many of whom could be back in action in Bristol for the full team in the 2018 World Cup - should the nation win its bid to stage the tournament in December.

With Bristol named as one of the candidate host cities for that bid, and the club's new stadium project playing a key role, Colin sees the game as a fantastic opportunity to further both causes.

Colin says: "Our supporters have given us passionate and committed support in our continuing efforts to build a new stadium in the city, and I thank them for that. We genuinely appreciate their backing.

"I would urge each and every one of those fans to attend Tuesday's game, if they have the opportunity, because it will show - on the back of Saturday's attendance - that there is a real appetite for football in the city.

"With FIFA visiting England towards the end of August this game could be a massive showcase for the city and - as well as boosting England's bid for World Cup football - it can only be a positive for us as we look to move forward in our efforts to move to a new stadium.

"Tickets have been priced to encourage as many youngsters to attend as possible on a summer holiday night, and they will get to see a number of Premier League stars in action."

England Under-21 squad: Frankie Fielding, Alex McCarthy, Ryan Bertrand, Phil Jones, Martin Kelly, Michael Mancienne, Chris Smalling, Kyle Walker, Marc Albrighton, Tom Cleverley, Jack Cork, Jordan Henderson, Victor Moses, Fabrice Muamba, Jack Rodwell, Danny Rose, Andy Carroll, Daniel Sturridge, Danny Welbeck.
