At half-time City manager Steve Coppell made a total of seven changes. It was Yeovil who started the brighter though with goalscorer Williams forcing a good diving save from Gerken..
As Yeovil pressed for another goal the City defence stood firm. The home fans began to get behind their team with a vuvuzela being used to get behind the team.
After 60 minutes City were awarded a penalty when trialist Adam Virgo upended Clarkson. The Scotsman dusted himself off and drilled the ball home from the spot to make it 2-1.
