Steve Coppell has thanked the 10,000-plus fans who have signed up as season card holders for the new season - and has urged more to join them.

With season tickets set to go general sale next week, the City boss says he hopes supporters will feel "inspired" to guarantee their seat for the new npower Championship campaign.

He is asking fans to match chairman Steve Lansdown's commitment to the club by purchasing a season ticket in numbers.

He says: "I'd like to thank every single supporter who has bought a season ticket to date - it's a magnificent response.

"As there are every summer, I am sure there are few fans still debating whether to get a season ticket

"I would say to them that income from the season tickets is crucial at this time of the year.

"We are lucky here to have a wealthy chairman, who is so committed to the local community. He has shown that with the money he has put into this football club.

"But it can not be a one way street. I hope people feel inspired to buy a season ticket. I hope anyone who has an inkling, or who has supported the club before, comes forward and makes the commitment of getting a season ticket not only for next season but the next couple of years."
