Nicky Maynard has taken the Goal of the Year honour at this evening's Football League Awards evening.
The City striker collected his award after beating off competition from four other shortlisted strikes at the glamour event in Park Lane, London.
The striker's goal in the 2-1 defeat at QPR on Boxing Day 2009 was one of 20 goals initially shortlisted by judges, and following a public vote via award sponsors Soccer AM was put forward into a final five top goals.
All 900 attendees to this evening's gala dinner were able to cast a vote for their favourite goal, and Nicky's came out on top.
Although the goal couldn't stop City from slipping to defeat at QPR's Loftus Road, it certainly caught the eye of the nation, especially with the BBC providing a multi-camera production for the game. Fans were able to relive from numerous angles the striker, with his back to goal, take two touches before arrowing a scissor-kick into the top corner.
