Gary Johnson says he is ignoring the league table and just focusing on City's next match at Ipswich Town this weekend.
City find themselves equidistance from the play-offs and the drop zone - eight points either way. However, City's manager insists that is the furthest thing from his mind currently.
He told Player: "We can't focus on the league table at the moment.
"For weeks we've been talking about building runs of two or three games, and in the end you wish your life away.
"We need to go into each game focused solely on winning that match, then afterwards you can assess the situation.
"We don't want to get ourselves carried away with enthusiasm. I hope the players have enjoyed our last few games and now we need to keep that momentum up."

Ipswich find themselves four points clear of the relegation zone following an inconsistent season of struggle.
And Gary admitted: "I am surprised to still see them down there.
"They've got a decent team and the club is a big one. They've only lost two at home and they've drawn more than they would have liked to - just like us.
"It's an important match and Ipswich are a decent Championship side who will be dangerous on the day."
Jamal Campbell-Ryce returns to the first-team fold but Evander Sno (back) and Jamie McAllister (calf) remain sidelined.
The medical staff are assessing some knocks and illness within the camp, however, which could have an impact on team selection.
