Paul Hartley admits he is "surprised but also delighted" to be recalled to the Scotland squad.
The midfielder, along with loan striker Chris Iwelumo, has been named in the Scotland set-up for the March 3rd friendly against Czech Republic at Hampden Park.
Previous omitted from the squad under George Burley, Paul insisted he would never close the door on his country and retire. New boss Craig Levein - who signed Paul at Hearts many years ago - has named the City midfield maestro in his first squad since taking charge.
Speaking exclusively to bcfc.co.uk, Paul said: "I really wasn't expecting to be called up at all.
"I was really surprised but also delighted to receive the call. It's come out of the blue a bit really.
"I've played lots of games this season and I feel I can still add something for Scotland. I'm the oldest player in the squad so I can certainly provide experience.

"I always said when I was first left out that I wouldn't close the door and retire. I've said many times that if I'm involved, then great, but if I'm not then it wouldn't be a problem.
"It's a new start for a lot of players under Craig Levein's reign and I'm just happy to be involved."
Of team-mate Chris Iwelumo's inclusion, Paul said: "It's great for Chris to be back in the squad.
"He's come down to Bristol to get some games under his belt and hopefully scoring the other day will have boosted his confidence as well."
