Gary Johnson says he isn't surprised by the lack of January transfer day deadline activity throughout the Coca-Cola Championship.
The City boss made his transfer window moves early with the capture of Jamal Campbell-Ryce, Patrick Agyemang and Steve Collis.
Only John Akinde (Brentford) and Stephen Henderson (Aldershot) left Ashton Gate on loan during deadline day. There has been no decision yet with regards to Lee Johnson's future, with his initial month's loan period at Derby now up.
Gary told bcfc.co.uk: "Throughout January you always get plenty of speculation but very few of it is ever fact.
"You see teams bringing in players at the last minute to make sure they have big squads, but really that isn't neccesary in the Championship.
"Championship clubs are able to make loan signings again in seven days' time so we have that option available to us if we want to utilise it.
"I've been surprised by some of the deals in the Championship. There haven't been too many great deals around, in my opinion, and only one or two which you raise your eyebrows at.
"Generally not much has happened across the division and that's what I expected."
On Lee's future, Gary said: "His first month is up at Derby and he enjoyed it there. There's now a decision to be made about whether he stays on for another month or not and that's ongoing. It didn't need to be completed today."
Of the loan exits for John and Stephen, Gary said: "They're both players with bright futures potentially.
"Stephen's been sitting on the bench for a little while now and badly needs to be playing games, given our recent lack of reserve games. He'll enjoy playing for three points in league matches.
"John hasn't been in the squad in recent weeks and I'd prefer he was playing on a Saturday than not. He's had a few cameo run-outs but he needs 90 minutes and Brentford should offer him that."
