Gary Johnson is frustrated with the international matches scheduled for the second week of the new season.

Scotland are due to play away in Norway in a World Cup qualifier next Wednesday (August 12th), while Wales Under-21s face their Hungary counterparts in a UEFA Championship qualifier on the same night.

It will affect City, who will lose up to six players for the period - including the Carling Cup first round match at Brentford the night before, as well as key training time in the lead up to the home game with Crystal Palace on Saturday, August 15th.

"Someone hasn't planned that very well at all. It's not an international week."

Paul Hartley, David Clarkson and Jamie McAllister have all been called up by Scotland boss George Burley, who was recently at Ashton Gate to watch the trio in action.

Welsh youngsters Christian Ribeiro and James Wilson have already been called up by their country's Under-21 side, and Lewin Nyatanga will be on Wales duty for their international friendly in Montenegro.

"I was very surprised to learn of the games that week," City's manager told bcfc.co.uk.

"Someone hasn't planned that very well at all. It's certainly frustrating the way it has panned out."
