BAGGIES TO BE CHAMPIONSHIP RIVALS
West Bromwich Albion will play City in the Coca-Cola Championship next season.
The Baggies - who won the Championship title in 2007/08 - were relegated from the Premier League this afternoon following a 2-0 home defeat by Liverpool.
It means City will resume their rivalry with Tony Mowbray's side - the two sides drew 1-1 at Ashton Gate in August 2007 before a 4-1 Boxing Day defeat at the Hawthorns in the middle of City's first season back in the Championship.
The list of City's league opponents next season is quickly taking shape, with 20 teams now confirmed as Championship sides next season.
Gary Johnson's side will meet 16 sides from last term, plus the two sides who have gained automatic promotion from League One - Leicester City and Peterborough United; and now West Brom.
Reading and Preston North End will again compete in the Championship after losing in the play-off semi-finals, with the losing finalist - from Sheffield United and Burnley - also remaining in the league.
The remainder will be made up of the other two teams yet to be relegated from the Barclays Premier League next Sunday, and the winners of the League One play-off final between Millwall and Scunthorpe.
Southampton, Charlton Athletic and Norwich City all left the Championship via the relegation trapdoor, while Wolves and Birmingham City can look forward to Premier League football next term.
