Stephen Henderson has been called into the Republic of Ireland Under-21 squad for next week's friendly against Lithuania.

The City goalkeeper could well play for his country's Under-21s, having missed out as an unused substitute on the last few occasions.

The friendly in Lithuania on Tuesday, October 14th gives manager Don Givens the chance to mould a new Under-21 side following the disappointment of failing to qualify for the 2009 Championships.

Meanwhile, City winger Ivan Sproule has been placed on standby for Northern Ireland's matches in Slovenia and at home to San Marino this week and next.
