Marlon Jackson scored in stoppage time to earn City Reserves a 1-0 win over Cheltenham Town at Whaddon Road.

The Totesport.com Combination clash looked to heading to a drab goalless draw until Joe McClennan's cross found Jackson unmarked in the middle, the striker slotting in the winner from close range.

Development coach Alan Walsh told bcfc.co.uk: "We played some good football at times without any real end product and the game looked to be ending goalless, but the lads have worked a good goal at the death.

"We put out a young side and they showed a good attitude, working right to the end."

A quiet first half produced no real chances of note, with both teams playing good football without carving out opportunities in the final third.

Rob Stambolziev forced a save from Cheltenham keeper Jo Perry early in the second period, before - at the other end - Dean Marney rounded Stephen Henderson in the visiting goal but slotted wide from an acute angle.

Frankie Artus, back from his two-month loan stint at Brentford, headed an Ashley Kington cross wide, while Henderson made a smart save with his legs to deny Theo Lewis near the end.

Then came Jackson's last-gasp winner, smashing in substitute McClennan's cross following a neat one-two with Kington to clinch all three points.

City Reserves: Henderson; Walker, Wilkinson (McClennan 46), Williams, Edwards; Kington, Artus, Dunn, Stambolziev; Jackson, Magee (Livings 46). Subs not used: Bradley, Lennox.
