Gary Johnson said his City side had restored the fans' belief after coming back from 2-0 behind to earn a point against Plymouth Argyle.

First-half goals by Jamie Mackie and Rory Fallon saw City trail 2-0 at half-time, only to fight back through goals by debutant John Akinde and fellow substitute David Noble.

MATCH REPORT: Verdict on the 2-2 draw

Gary told Bristol City World: "Most people will be going home disappointed that we've only got a point but we've seen a team come back from adversity again, and it really was adversity this time.

"You just have to create a different atmosphere and that's what we did.

"There were only few lads behind the goal singing "Always Believe" in the first half - we'd lost a few, I think - but I thought that once we came back once we gave [the supporters] back that belief.

"It's a shame that we have to do all that but we are in a good league.

"I'd rather take a point after being 2-0 down, that's for sure, but then at 2-2 I was really disappointed with the three minutes added on.

"They were super goals. Our substitutes made an impression that's for sure.

"The first was a great cross and a great finish and we brought Nobes on to get into that area, just outside the box, and that came off as well

"You can't judge these things. All you can do is make changes when you think you need to, and we did wrestle the game back."

He added: "I think in the first half it's probably the worst we've played since my time here, and in the second (half) it was one of the best.

Commenting on the four changes made to the starting line-up which lost at Wolves, Gary said: "There will be a few back for Sheffield United.

"Four players had fitness tests this morning: Nicky Maynard, Marvin Elliott, Louis Carey and Michael McIndoe.

"Marvin, Louis and Macca are all great lads and they want to play with injures - but we had to make a decision.

"We thought Maynard could come through, but even he had to come off in the end."
