City's brand new training ground at Failand was put to use for the first time today.

The players took part in a 25-minutes each way practice game at the new site, adjacent to QEH's sports ground.

In a red versus grey vests match, the latter ran out 3-2 winners. But, most importantly, it gave several players the chance to enjoy a relatively competitive run-out.

Marvin Elliott (knee), Jordan Walker (leg) and Cole Skuse (foot) all played in the match after overcoming injury problems. Jamie McAllister did some light training work away from the match itself as he continues to recover from an ankle problem.

Manager Gary Johnson told Bristol City World: "The new pitches look very, very nice and the quality of our practice match today proved that.

"It's great to have a training ground to call your own and we thank the chairman, (chief executive) Colin Sexstone and all the City Foundation members for making this possible."

There is still work to be done at the new facility at Failand, and at a later date the club plans to hold an official opening ceremony - where all City Foundation members, who helped fund the project, will be invited.
