Mick McCarthy has won the August manager of the month award for the Coca-Cola Championship.

Gary Johnson was nominated for the honour alongside Wolves boss McCarthy, Preston North End's Alan Irvine and Birmingham City chief Alex McLeish.

But table-topping Wolves earned the award for their manager with a fine start to the season - incorporating three wins and one draw in August.

In League One Leicester City's Nigel Pearson took the honour, and Mark Robins - a former City loanee - won the League Two award at Rotherham United.
