City Reserves produced a superb second half display to beat their Southampton counterparts 4-2 in the Combination Cup.

The Saints had much the better of the first half and went in front after just two minutes when Jake Thomson's shot went in via a deflection off the head of Luke Wilkinson.

Further chances came and went for the hosts, but City pulled level just before half-time. Scott Murray found space on the edge of the box and angled a shot past Southampton keeper Tommy Forecast.

City's superior fitness showed in the second 45, with three quickfire goals after the interval.

David Noble curled in a 25-yard beauty before further efforts from Ivan Sproule and Steve Brooker.

A late Saints goal proved nothing more than a consolation, as City took an early lead in their Combination Cup group.
