JAMIE'S FRACTURE CONFIRMED

Posted on: Sun 17 Aug 2008

Jamie McCombe will undergo surgery early this week after suffering a fractured cheekbone in the 1-1 draw with Derby County.

The big defender picked up the injury after just 13 minutes of the game, having been caught in the face by the knee of Claude Davis.

Manager Gary Johnson told bcfc.co.uk: "It's a blow for us and Jamie and it's likely he will be out for around six weeks."

Jamie was taken to hospital before half-time in yesterday's match and is now set to have surgery on the broken bone.

Club physio Nick Dawes commented: "Jamie will have surgery early this week after some of the swelling has gone down."

City will have Liam Fontaine back in training this week after an ankle problem, but the manager has already signalled his intention to add an experienced defender to the squad as soon as possible.
