City supporters won't see any further new faces at Blackpool, according to manager Gary Johnson.

The boss says the matchday squad of 16 for Saturday's season opener at Bloomfield Road will be selected from those already in his current crop of players.

However, Gary certainly hasn't ruled out further signings before the end of the current transfer window on August 31st.

He told bcfc.co.uk: "I don't think there will be any new players in by Saturday, and in any case they wouldn't play at Blackpool because there isn't enough time.

"We're close to knowing the starting line-up now. Maybe one or two spots are up for grabs, but the rest are sorted. The boys have worked hard to get their spot in the team."

He added: "We'll keep searching and we've got until the end of August if we want to add any new faces to the squad."

The boss insists he is well positioned to make signings if required.

"Myself, my brother Pete (Johnson, chief scout) and Keith (Millen, assistant manager) have all been out scouting throughout the summer," he said.

"We've made plenty of trips, both on home soil and to foreign lands. We had to do that to know what was available.

"It just means that we are well placed should we need to do anything in the transfer market."

City have made two signings this summer, recruiting Gavin Williams from Ipswich Town for an undisclosed fee and Nicky Maynard from Crewe for a club record £2.25m.
