City have completed the signing of Crewe Alexandra striker Nicky Maynard for a club record fee of £2.25m.

The 21-year-old forward arrives on a four-year contract, having successfully completed a medical at Ashton Gate.

A highly-rated product of Crewe's much-acclaimed Academy, Nicky has a record of 35 goals in 57 starts for the Cheshire club.

The striker becomes City's second signing of the summer, following former Ipswich Town midfielder Gavin Williams into the ranks at Ashton Gate.

Nicky will make his debut against Royal Antwerp tomorrow night at Ashton Gate.
