GARY ON CHELTENHAM DRAW
Gary Johnson felt City deserved their late penalty in the 1-1 draw with Cheltenham Town.
The City boss was pleased to see Jennison Myrie-Williams convert his side's third pre-season spot-kick to earn a share of the spoils at Whaddon Road.
And while he hopes City haven't used all their penalty fortune before the season begins, Gary told Bristol City World: "I think we deserved that penalty late on because we'd put them under some pressure in the second half.
"It was a good game and I thought Cheltenham played well. As long as we don't get Cheltenham, Forest Green or Rushden in the cup we'll be alright!
"It's still not three points at stake at the minute, but we've got to get the lads buzzing as if they're playing for three points.
"Pre-season's always very difficult - you've just got to make sure your squad is right for the first game of the season."
Gavin Williams made his long-awaited City debut and played for 66 minutes.
Gary added: "Gavin came through fine. He's blooding himself in and will need to go past people as well as pass the ball. That's why we've brought him here and he'll be ready to do that pretty soon."
Gary confirmed Cole Skuse had been withdrawn after nine minutes due to "whack on the nose" which had caused a painful headache to the youngster.
Liam Fontaine and Jamie McCombe both came through the match fine after ankle and shin injuries respectively.
Meanwhile, Ivan Sproule (toe) and Jamie McAllister (thigh) were both rested but should be fine for the start of the season.
