Cheltenham Town 1-1 Bristol City
Adam Baker reports from Whaddon Road

Jennison Myrie-Williams' late spot-kick earned City a 1-1 draw at Cheltenham Town in their penultimate pre-season friendly.

The young forward stayed cool seven minutes from time to convert from 12 yards against the side he spent time on loan with.

Ashley Vincent had earlier given the League One side the lead with a 41st minute effort across kee[er Chris Weale.

Weale, deputising for the injured Adriano Basso, was forced into early diving saves from two driven Paul Connor attempts.

City, who lost Cole Skuse to a nose injury after nine minutes, responded with an effort from his replacement Christian Ribeiro, who shot into the side-netting.

Weale then produced another fine save to keep out a Vincent shot, but could only watch as Andy Callinagh headed against the crossbar from the resultant corner kick.

Cheltenham finally went ahead before the break when David Bird's pass set Vincent clear to finish beyond Weale.

City switched their front line at half-time and Dele Adebola soon had a header cleared off the line from a Lee Johnson corner.

Soon after Bradley Orr sent a delicate chipped shot just wide, then more changes followed for City. Gavin Williams' debut ended at that point, and one of the substitutes, Kevin Betsy, picked up a caution for a late 'forward's tackle' on ex-City midfielder Alex Russell.

With time ticking away Michael Townsend was penalised for pulling Adebola to the ground in the penalty area and Myrie-Williams made no mistake from the spot.

Lee Ridley's late free kick was denied by an in-form Weale.
