Emad Meteb says he has realised a dream by making his £1.5m move to City.

The Egyptian international striker has left Al Ahly to agree a three-year contract - giving him the opportunity of playing in England for the first time.

In an exclusive Bristol City World interview, Meteb - speaking through a translator - said: "I'm happy to be here and I hope to give all my best for Bristol City.

"I want to give my best for the manager (Gary Johnson), who I like very much.

"I am a natural striker and I know all about Bristol City. I know the kind of supporters that are waiting to see me play.

"I have to score goals for Bristol City and create them too. I want to help the club win promotion to the Premier League.

"This is a very big step for me, from the Egyptian league to England.

"However, it's always been my dream to play in England. It's a very big league, a very strong league and one that is seen around the world."

Meteb has been with Al Ahly since the age of 12 and admits to feeling emotional about leaving the Cairo-based club.

He said: "It has been a difficult decision to leave the club where I grew up and learnt my football.

"But this is a professional life and I'm sure they will understand my decision in Egypt. I hope to realise all my dreams with Bristol City."

He added: "I'm ready to learn English. I know some already and can understand much of what people are saying, but I struggle with my speech and don't want to make lots of mistakes.

"It's important I learn English for my team-mates and the coaching staff so it is easier to communicate with them."
