Gary Johnson has thanked Teamtalk.com after the internet site named him 2007/08 Football League manager of the year.

The City boss beat off competition from Tony Pulis (Stoke), Phil Brown (Hull), Roberto Martinez (Swansea) and Graham Turner (Hereford) to take the crown.

And, after being presented with the award today, Gary told bcfc.co.uk: "It's always nice to be recognised and I'd like to say thanks to Teamtalk.com for the award.

"We were one game short of an unbelievable accolade but it's nice when people recognise what the manager, the players and the club has done. We've a lot of recognition this year, which is great, and we won't rest on our laurels next season."

The award was voted for by Teamtalk.com journalists at the end of the 2007/08 campaign.
