City will wear red and white at the Championship play-off final at Wembley, bcfc.co.uk can reveal.

The Football League confirmed today that both City and Hull - in amber and black - will play in their traditional colours for the showpiece occasion next Saturday.

A club spokesman told bcfc.co.uk: "Supporters had been ringing Ashton Gate and e-mailing in to ask whether City would be playing their home colours, so we contacted the Football League for confirmation.

"Both teams will wear their home strips, and we look forward to seeing a sea of red and white in the west end of the stadium."

Both clubs wore their first-choice strip in both league games this season, which saw Gary Johnson's side emerge unbeaten home and away.

City wore a one-off kit of gold, blue shorts and gold socks the last time they appeared in a Wembley final, due to a colour clash with Stoke at the 2000 Auto Windscreens Shield final.

But now the club and fans can proudly wear their traditional red and white at the home of football - just as it did on City's first visit to the old Twin Towers venue in 1986 when Terry Cooper's side beat Bolton 3-0 to lift the Freight Rover Trophy.
