Gary Johnson has received confirmation from the Football Association that he will not be punished for his dismissal at Cardiff in March.

The City boss was ordered to the stands by referee Keith Stroud ten minutes from time in the 2-1 defeat after knocking the ball from the hands of fourth official Paul Armstrong.

Gary argued that he had only been trying to hurry up the restart of play after official Armstrong was seen laughing and joking with Cardiff manager Dave Jones on the touchline.

And the FA has seemingly taken the City manager's viewpoint today, sending a letter to Ashton Gate with confirmation that no punishment will be brought against the Londoner.

Gary told Bristol City World: "I'm pleased the referee's assessor actually read the situation and made clear exactly what happened.

"I probably would have been done on the reports of the referee and fourth official because they were a little stronger than what actually happened on the day.

"According to some newspapers I supposedly incited the crowd, started a riot and disputed the penalty decision. I did none of that. It was just the fourth official messing around a bit with Dave Jones - and to be fair he admitted that.

"The FA has seen sense and decided not to take it any further."
