Louis Carey says he will always remember the ovation he received on his 500th appearance for the club - even if he became a little embarrassed.
The skipper became the club's fifth 500-club member on Saturday when he turned out against Plymouth Argyle at Ashton Gate.
Before the match manager Gary Johnson organised for the players to stage a special guard of honour to salute the defender as he left the field from the warm-up.
And Louis told Bristol City World: "It was a great thing that the gaffer set-up but it was massively embarrassing for me. I'm not really like that and get all shy, putting my head down and running off as quickly as I could.
"I was delighted with the ovation I received from all the lads and the fans, it's something I'll always remember. Perhaps I should have walked a little slower and enjoyed the occasion more but we had a big game to prepare for."
And Louis admits the 2-1 defeat to City's West Country rivals had taken some of the shine off his big day.
"I was obviously pleased to join the 500-club on Saturday but also bitterly disappointed with the result," he added.
"I thought we had them under lots of pressure in the first 20 minutes, created a few good chances and had a penalty shout turned down.
"Had we scored early on then I'm sure we would have gone on and won the game. At the minute it's not quite falling for us in front of goal.
"We need to start picking up points. If we had won on Saturday then the pressure would have been off going to Cardiff this weekend.
"The pressure's right back on us now in a local derby - we need three points."
