JAMIE PLEASED WITH FIRST HOME GOAL

Posted on: Tue 19 Feb 2008

Jamie McCombe chose the perfect time to score his first goal at Ashton Gate.

Deep, deep into stoppage time the big defender bagged his seventh goal of his City career to rescue a point against Crystal Palace - but it was his first on home soil.

"It was nice to rescue a point," the stand-in skipper told Bristol City World afterwards. "It's nice to be off the mark at home, although it would have been nicer to score in a win.

"We're happy to have a point for our efforts, but I don't think we really played our game tonight and showed the rest of the division what we're about.

"We battled to the end like we always do and showed our fitness levels. We got our just desserts really."

Reliving his goal, Jamie said: "We work on all our set-pieces and thankfully I met the corner nicely and saw it nestle in the back of the net."
