Gary Johnson wants to see passion and commitment from his charges as they aim to claim top spot on merit for the first time tonight.
City have topped the Coca-Cola Championship table on three separate occasions already this season, but each time they have been quickly knocked off top spot by teams kicking off later in the day or sides with games in hand.
Victory tonight against Crystal Palace in front of the Sky cameras at Ashton Gate would be enough to take City rightly top of the table after 33 games - and even a win for West Brom in their game in hand wouldn't be enough to topple them.
So speaking to bcfc.co.uk ahead of the game, Gary said: "This is our first opportunity to go top by right, without another side knocking us off ten minutes later.
"But we need to earn the right to be top. We need to show passion and commitment, whether that be through a pass, a cross or a shot. It's another night for whatever it takes."
As part of Red'N'White Night VII, Gary has pledged to wear a scarf along with his usual red and white tie. And he has asked fans to do similar for the big game.
"It would be great to turn Ashton Gate into a sea of red and white," the manager added.
The game kicks off at 7.45pm. To buy a ticket for the game call 0871 222 6666; go to our Online Ticket Shop, or pay on the night.
