NICK'S PRAISE FOR FITNESS CHIEF

Posted on: Wed 23 Jan 2008

Nick Carle has heaped praise on fitness and conditioning coach Glen Schmidt after making his debut for City.

The Australian midfielder played his first game for two months in Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Championship rivals Crystal Palace.

And despite the disappointing scoreline, Nick was pleased with his fitness levels after so long on the sidelines - something his accredits to City's fitness chief.

Nick told Bristol City World: "I was very happy with my fitness and I have to thank Glen for that.

"Obviously I was worried having not played for two months before Saturday, but Glen really got me up to speed.

"I felt that, in the 60 minutes I played, fitness-wise I did well. Unfortunately the result wasn't what we wanted."

Nick is now looking to make his home bow on Saturday when City host Blackpool at Ashton Gate.

"I've watched a few games here already," said Nick. "Now I can't wait to play in front of the home fans.

"I really like the atmosphere here and the supporters are great. Hopefully I'll get my chance to play on Saturday."

Meanwhile, the midfielder has been called up to the Australian national squad for a World Cup qualifer against Qatar in Melbourne on February 6th.
