DREAM START FOR BYFIELD

Posted on: Tue 04 Sep 2007

Darren Byfield hit a first-half brace as City defeated Cardiff City 5-1 in a specially-arranged reserve friendly at Ninian Park.

The new signing from Millwall, making his first appearance in a City shirt, scored on 21 and 36 minutes to give the visitors a comfortable 2-0 half-time lead.

Cardiff, who included Robbie Fowler in their team, pulled a goal back with 13 minutes left through Rhys Kelleher's cross-shot.

But Phil Jevons and youngsters Ashley Kington and Marlon Jackson sealed the win with late goals.
