City have completed the signing of Millwall's Darren Byfield for an undisclosed fee.
The striker, 30, agreed terms and passed a medical at Ashton Gate this afternoon.
Signed on a one-year deal, Darren is unable to make his City debut against Manchester City this evening.
However, the Birmingham-born forward will be able to join the travelling party to Sheffield Wednesday for Saturday's early kick-off at Hillsborough.
Darren began his career as a trainee at Aston Villa and spent six long years at Villa Park - in that time enjoying loan spells at Preston, Northampton, Cambridge and Blackpool.
In 2000 Walsall snapped up the forward on a free transfer. Two years later Rotherham shelled out £50,000 for the forward's services, and another two years down the line Darren was signed by Sunderland in a swap-deal involving Michael Proctor.
His stay at the Stadium of Light lasted just five months and Darren completed a free transfer switch to Gillingham, where he spent another two years.
Millwall picked up the forward in 2006, where he had a superb goalscoring record of 16 goals in 37 games. But now he is ready for a new challenge with City in the Championship.
Darren's career statistics boast 84 goals in 320 appearances, a strike record of just over one every four games.
