FINNBOGASON TRIAL ENDS

Posted on: Sat 21 Jul 2007

Gary Johnson has revealed Kjartan Finnbogason will not be offered a contract at City.

The Icelandic striker joined City on their tour of Latvia and played 45 minutes in all three matches.

But the 21-year-old failed to find the net and was unable to impress the City management team enough to earn a contract.

Gary Johnson told bcfc.co.uk: "We won't be offering Finnbogason anything at the moment.

"He needed to show us he was able to challenge for a place in the first team but unfortunately he would be behind two or three of our current lads.

"He's disappointed but these decisions have to be made in football."

The City boss also issued an update on trialist left-back Damian Gimenez, who broke his nose during the second game of the Latvian tour.

"We've got to wait for his nose to heal before we can see him in action again," said Gary.

"We want to take another look at him and Damian's happy to stick around so that one will run for a little bit."
