MEAT LOAF CONCERT A BIG SUCCESS
Meat Loaf ended his European Tour with a bang by rocking Ashton Gate Stadium this evening.
In front of more than 14,000 fans, the American rock star played out a brilliant 18-song set which lasted almost three hours.
Beginning with Revved Up and Paradise By The Dashboard Light, the hoards of fans who had queued at Ashton Gate since midday came alive.
After being stripped of his wig, Meat Loaf soon had the crowd signing along in full voice to You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth and I Would Do Anything For Love.
After a short video interlude, The Storm and Seize The Night had Ashton Gate rocking again.
Guitar-thrashing Break It and Land Of The Pigs went down a storm before Bat Out Of Hell ended the main set.
Meat Loaf's encore of Black Betty, Mercury Blues and Gimme Shelter brought the curtain down on a truly cracking show.
Earlier in the night Marion Raven had whipped up the atmosphere with a sterling 45-minute set of tracks from her 'Set You Free' album.
Chief executive Colin Sexstone told bcfc.co.uk: "It's been another great concert night at Ashton Gate and the atmosphere was terrific.
"It's put us in the limelight again and we'll certainly be looking to stage even more concerts next year."
