Ivan Sproule is someone who will get the fans off their seats with his quick feet and lightning pace, according to his new manager Gary Johnson.

The City chief clinched his first outfield signing of the summer yesterday by paying an undisclosed fee to Hibernian for Ivan.

And Gary told Bristol City World: "We're delighted to finally have Ivan at the club because we've been tracking him for a little while.

"He will enhance our squad. He'll be one of the quickest players in the league.

"Ivan is somebody who can get the fans off their seats when he gets the ball at his feet.

"Of course he mustn't think he has to entertain the crowd every time he gets the ball.

"There's no need to beat ten men every time, but doing it once or twice might get - as he says - the fans smiling.

"I'm sure they're all looking forward to seeing him play."

He added: "I've got a great group of lads who I really enjoy working with and training with. Ivan will add to that."

Gary has also pledged to have a 'word' with Ivan about his disciplinary record at Hibs.

In the last two seasons the winger has picked up three red cards and 18 cautions.

"He's had his ups and downs with yellow and red cards and we'll talk to him about that," said the City manager.

"But I don't mind our players showing passion if it's channelled the right way."
